Indian classical solo
Indian classical music is a very old traditional form of improvised music with a deep introspective yet ecstatic and exhilarating aspect. The most unique aspect of this music is the use of Microtones through slides and bends to create an unbroken flow of melodic movement. In a performance, the rhythmic part is mostly accompanied with an Indian percussion called Tabla.

Join us this evening and let our soloist Hindol Deb, our “chamber orchestra” and our rhythm section take you on a journey through time and culture.
Workshop on Improvisation
The aim is to acquaint the participants with the Indian ways of improvisation and give an aesthetical insight of the mood/emotion attached with the different Ragas (Modes) while using different Rhythmic Patterns practiced in Indian music.
A Raga is a pattern of notes played with particular movement, characteristic intervals and embellishments used to define a certain framework in the Ascent and Descent of the Octave. In Indian music each beat can be subdivided into many micro beats to create complex polyrhythmic structures with precise calculation.
